Information and Signposting Line Volunteers

Our Information, Advice and Signposting Line (IAS) is a key service helping people find the right organisations to support their needs. It helps people with lived experience of disability, long term health conditions and their families to find the right information, activities, or advice.

The Information, Advice and Signposting Line is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 1pm and we’re looking for several volunteers to join our team to provide cover across the week.

The role will involve answering telephone and email queries from our clients. Volunteers will not be expected to offer advice as the role will involve researching information for clients and their families and either signposting to one of the Disability Positive teams or to external support organisations across Cheshire and the wider area.

Volunteers will also record the enquires and information researched on our information database, building up a library of information that can be used to support clients in the future.  This will help us identify where there may be gaps in support for disabled people, and to keep up to date information for signposting.

You’ll need a good telephone manner, strong communication skills and have experience using Microsoft Office. All our volunteers receive a full induction and role specific training, with ongoing support.

Volunteers are a vital and valued part of the Disability Positive team and provide a fantastic source of support across our organisation facilitating the delivery and growth of our services. If you think you can help, we’d love to hear from you.
