Policy influencing is what we do to influence positive change with local, regional and national government and decision makers.
We want to be a voice for our members and service users and use your views and experiences to influence change.
In 2026 we are working closely with other Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs) who think like us, to influence the policy both locally and nationally on subjects like:
Social Care Charging
How people are charged for social care and the fairness of current systems.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Reform
How the SEND system is being reformed and how it affects families.
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) Reform
PIP reform and its impact on disabled people.
Funding for Disabled People's Organisations (DPOs)
Sustainable funding for Disabled People's Organisations across the country.
How we do it
We do this by writing to local and national government decision makers, elected members and ministers, and meeting with them, as well as writing reports and sharing evidence and ideas.
We also respond to local council consultations on issues that matter to our members, such as changes to policies, budgets and plans for the local area.
We are active members of:
- Cheshire and Warrington Disabled People’s Panel
- Our Voices (group of DPOs lead by Disability Rights UK)
- DPO Forum (England)
- DPO Funding Justice Collective
