Cheshire Independent Living Awareness Day (CILAD) cancelled for 2020!

Cheshire Independent Living Awareness Day (CILAD) has had to be put on hold for a year because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The event, which celebrates diversity and helps those with care and support needs to live independently in the community, was due to take place at Moss Farm Leisure Centre in Northwich on Friday 28 August 2020.

With no date available yet for when public gatherings will be allowed, Disability Positive (Disability Positive) and its partners have taken the difficult decision to cancel the event.

Following the success of last year’s CILAD as more than 500 people from across west Cheshire enjoyed the activities and services on offer throughout the day, plans are already underway to make it even bigger and better in 2021.

Lynne Turnbull, Chief Executive of Disability Positive, said: “We’re really disappointed to cancel CILAD, but people’s safety is the most important thing”.
“Many of the people who would normally attend CILAD are likely to be in the shielding category or more susceptible to COVID-19 so the most sensible thing is to start planning for next year’s event instead.
“We want to deliver a safe, informative and entertaining disability awareness event for all to enjoy right in the heart of Cheshire.
“We had some extremely positive feedback last year, with 99 per cent of people giving a positive review, and we want to continue developing the event in the future.”

Make sure you put 27th August 2021 in your diary for next year’s event!
