Respiratory Conditions, Covid-19 and ‘Rescue Packs’

Respiratory Conditions, Covid-19 and ‘Rescue Packs’

UK social media posts claiming that people with pre-existing respiratory conditions, such as Asthma or COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) can request a ‘rescue pack‘ from their GP – are NOT TRUE!

The pack contains antibiotics and steroid tablets for 5 days which is allegedly to be taken on the first day of any breathing difficulties. GPs are being asked for the rescue packs and have begun to add a statement to their websites to advise.

What do I do?
Continue to follow the Government and NHS advice. Manage your condition in your usual way, but if you feel you have symptoms of coronavirus/COVID-19, go to 111.nhs.uk/covid-19 before doing anything else.
