The pages on this site describe what our business services do. This one shows what happens when organisations use them.
Below are the words of the people we have worked with, a case study of a partnership that changed how a national business builds its hotels, and the organisations who have trusted us with this work.
What organisations say about us
For 4 years, we have partnered with Disability Positive to help ensure we deliver an exceptional hotel experience for guests with disabilities and accessibility needs. The team consistently supports our operation, development, and decision-making processes.
Our collaboration spans several key areas, including:
- Conducting quarterly hotel audits
- Driving process improvements
- Providing expert advisory support
- Disability awareness training
- Assisting in the creation and testing of new room designs
Disability Positive is always responsive to our requirements, offering positive, clear, and pragmatic guidance every step of the way. Through honest and constructive dialogue, we continue to drive meaningful progress across our business in this vital area.
What people say about our training
Felt like a safe space to discuss work specific scenarios
It was nice to challenge current knowledge and reflect how to improve areas.
Made me think about things we have in place and what can be changed.
Relevant to our setting; good to know legislation; makes you think more about the barriers faced and reasonable adjustments.
The Trainer is always very knowledgeable and creates a good atmosphere. The content is always up to date and relevant
The trainer was inclusive and designed a workshop that enabled us to all engage.
The case studies were really useful to put ideas into context in a training environment.
Examples brought training to life, thank you for honesty, it’s valued!
The training really opened my eyes to the prejudices disabled people sometimes face.
Case study: Travelodge
Improving Accessibility Through Inclusive Signage
In 2022, Disability Positive partnered with Travelodge to explore how signage could be made more accessible and inclusive for hotel guests. As part of this work, our CEO joined Travelodge colleagues at a hotel in Manchester to review the customer journey and identify opportunities to enhance communication through the use of pictorial signage.
Pictorial signs can help create a more inclusive experience for a wide range of customers, including people who communicate using symbols or pictures, as well as those whose first language is not English and anyone who benefits from clear visual communication. Improved signage can help guests find their way around the hotel more confidently and independently, creating a smoother and more positive experience from arrival to departure.
By combining clear visual imagery with written information, Travelodge has taken practical steps to make navigating its hotels easier and more welcoming for all guests.
Following this collaboration, Travelodge incorporated pictorial signage into new hotel developments and refurbishment programmes. This has helped increase the visibility and use of inclusive signage across its estate, demonstrating Travelodge’s commitment to improving accessibility and creating a positive customer experience for everyone.
Impact
- Improved accessibility and navigation for a diverse range of guests
- Integration of inclusive signage into new and refurbished hotels
- Enhanced customer experience through clearer, more accessible communication
- Continued commitment to creating welcoming and inclusive environments for all customers
This partnership demonstrates how small, practical changes can make a significant difference to accessibility and inclusion.
