Bright future for Cheshire Independent Living Awareness Day

There are ambitious plans to grow Cheshire Independent Living Awareness Day (CILAD) after a successful return for the event.

CILAD celebrates diversity and helps people with care and support needs live independently in the community, and 543 people turned up to the event at Moss Farm Leisure Centre in Northwich in August.

The event returned after a short absence and organisations across west Cheshire attended to showcase their services, while people were able to take part in many different activities, such as accessible rugby and interactive Makaton sessions.

The date for next year’s CILAD has already been pencilled in as 28 August 2020. There are plans to alter timings to hold a networking session for stall holders before opening to the public, as well as introducing a new evening event with performances.

Some of the highlights from CILAD are as follows.

The 2019 CILAD was sponsored by Active Cheshire, Brio Leisure, Cheshire Centre for Independent Living, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Healthwatch Cheshire West, Qwest Services and Vivo Care Choices.
